This project involved the custom manufacturing and international supply of 53 metric tons of EGPC, which are fully interchangeable with VAM TOP threads. Developed for the Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation (EGPC), the cargo was processed through targeted mill scheduling and rigorous precision machining before being shipped via sea freight bulk vessel directly to the destination port in Egypt.

Project Challenge

Supplying premium connection tubing for major state-owned oil companies like EGPC presents rigorous technical and operational hurdles, especially for smaller custom batches: 1.Ultra-High Precision Threading Requirements: The BT-2 premium connection (equivalent to VAM TOP) requires extremely strict machining tolerances and surface finishing to guarantee gas-tight sealing under severe downhole environments. 2.Small-Batch Production Constraints: Producing a niche volume of 53 tons of premium connection tubing often causes delays or low priority in mill scheduling. 3.Tight Delivery Schedule: The end-user required immediate dispatch to meet offshore/onshore drilling schedules in Egypt, leaving zero margin for re-threading or quality rejections.

Our Solution

To overcome these challenges and ensure a flawless delivery, our project team implemented a streamlined, quality-first strategy: 1.Premium Raw Material Sourcing: Selected top-tier Baotou Steel L80-1 seamless steel pipes as raw material, ensuring high mechanical strength, uniform wall thickness, and optimal heat treatment properties. 2.Precision CNC Machining & Rigorous QC: Deployed advanced CNC threading lathes paired with calibrated thread gauges and optical measurement systems to execute the BT-2 premium thread profile. Every single pipe thread underwent strict non-destructive testing (NDT) and gauge verification. 3.Agile Mill Scheduling: Re-arranged production cycles to prioritize this 53-ton order, significantly shortening the lead time without compromising precision. 4.100% First-Pass Quality & End-to-End Logistics: Achieved a 100% first-pass inspection rate. The cargo was protected with heavy-duty thread protectors, anti-rust coating, and sea-worthy bulk bundling, then shipped via bulk vessel directly to the destination port in Egypt for a smooth handover to EGPC.
