UIC50 (50E1) Rail EN 13674 | Light-Medium Standard Gauge Steel Rail

UIC50 (50E1) Rail EN 13674 | Light-Medium Standard Gauge Steel Rail

UIC50 rail, officially designated as 50E1 profile, is a light-medium flat-bottom rail defined under EN 13674-1 for 1435mm standard gauge railway networks. It fills the gap between lightweight rail and medium-heavy UIC54 rail, offering an economical solution for routes with moderate axle loads and medium-low traffic volume.

UIC50 (50E1) rail features mature cross-section design and great compatibility with global standard rail fasteners, sleepers and fishplates. R260 is the dominant steel grade for this profile, with stable pearlitic microstructure, reliable weldability and balanced mechanical performance. It is widely specified for regional branch railways, industrial sidings, port auxiliary lines and suburban transit projects across Europe, the Middle East, Southeast Asia and Africa.

Steel Grade Introduction — R260

R260 is the standard pearlitic carbon-manganese rail grade for UIC50 (50E1).  Core Advantages:

  • Cost-effective and mass-producible with consistent quality
  • Balanced hardness and toughness for medium-light traffic operation
  • Good ductility and outstanding on-site welding performance
  • Low overall maintenance cost for branch & industrial lines
  • Compatible with all standard UIC fastening systems
