Entering the Indian market, especially for critical applications like gas cylinders, involves overcoming significant regulatory and quality assurance hurdles. Our client faced two primary challenges that are common barriers for exporters: 1. Stringent Material Verification (PMI Certificate): The end-users and Indian authorities require undeniable proof of material composition. A Positive Material Identification (PMI) certificate was essential to verify that the 37Mn steel alloy composition strictly conforms to the required standards, ensuring the safety and integrity of the final gas cylinders under high pressure. 2. Mandatory BIS Certification: The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) certification is a compulsory and non-negotiable requirement for selling steel products in India. The BIS process is known for its rigorous factory inspections, thorough product testing, and lengthy approval timelines. For our client, navigating this complex process independently, especially from overseas, posed a significant risk of delays and potential project failure.
